Diocesan Recreation Philosophy
- The
Diocesan league is a league to promote the learning of all sports while
displaying sportsmanship to all players, coaches, and officials.
6.
Practice rules and procedures
- Schedule
is posted on the parish website
- Spectators
are permitted but are to stay out of the way of practice and should not
be in the hallway. Spectators
should stay seated at tables off to the side.
- Players
who miss practice may miss game time.
Please let your coach know if your child will be missing practice.
- Absent
from school no practice
- Please
drop off your child no earlier than 10 minutes prior to start of
practice. Please stay with your child
until the coach has arrived and please pick up your child at the conclusion
of practice.
- Parents
are not permitted to drop of other siblings at practice. Our coaches are there to conduct
practice not babysit.
- If
school is canceled due to weather, chances are practices are canceled as
well. Coaches will inform you
about the status of practice.
7. Uniforms
- Uniforms
will be passed out on the days listed above and must be returned after
their last game.
- Please
hang dry the uniform and do not use the dryer
8. Playing Time
- The
Diocese has playing time requirements for each grade level:
- Grades
4 through 6 each player must play a complete game or quarter
- Grades
7 and 8 each player must play in one of the first two games or appear
twice in a game
- Playing
time can be lost due to missed practices, fighting during practice, not
hustling during practice, disobedient during practice or disrespect
during practice
- Basically,
the players behavior will affect their playing time

10. Sportsmanship expectations from players,
coaches, parents, and fans
- No
vulgar or inappropriate language from anyone.
- No
taunting or trash talking
- Spectators
should be supportive and positive, cheering for our players and not
against the opponent.
- Accept
all decisions by the officials
- Encourage
only sportsmanlike conduct which includes class, dignity, respect, and
consideration for all those involved in the contest.

11. Concession stand help
- Our
gym hosts volleyball and basketball games every Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3
p.m.
- We
need parents to help run the concession stand and take admission at the
door.
- We
will be working on a schedule that will assign teams Saturdays to
work.
- Working
at our gym counts toward your volunteer hours and is very easy work.
